How was my first day you ask?

It was GREAT!

Spent the first half of the day with HR and learning about all the different benefit plans (info overload) and then getting trained in Admissions the second half of the day.

I'm EXHAUSTED and have a LONG day tomorrow (college fair tomorrow night) and then will be in the OC for all of Wednesday... SO I'll blog more thoroughly on Thursday...

Sorry!!

Until next time...

Well hello San Diego!!

I MADE IT!!

I'm officially all moved into my house in Point Loma! I have everything put away and will progressively organize the closet and clothes as I get time (and energy) and as I see how this room works.

My adventure started yesterday morning at 5:30am with my alarm going off. Then out the door by 7am, Starbucks and Bagels and then hit the road! After a small detour (I forgot my check book) we were on the road to San Diego! Two cars packed to the brim and 300+ miles ahead of me.

After unloading both cars, my parents and I were off to Ikea. After getting a new bed frame, 2 drawer dresser and a 2 drawer nightstand and some curtains, I was all done (for now) with Ikea and off to put it all together. My dad and I put the dresser and bed together and then called it a night.

My new roommate Laura invited me to hang out with some of her friends for a birthday party on Saturday night. It was a blast. It's fun to meet new people!

Sunday brought a Bed Bath & Beyond trip ad then putting the final touches to my new room. I'll (eventually) post pics of what I've done with the space.

Tomorrow I start at Point Loma Nazarene University and to be honest, I'm having mini panic attacks when I think about it too much. Tomorrow I'll be peeing my pants with every new little thing. I just know I'm going to geek out!

I'll post again tomorrow to update you on my first day at PLNU.

Wish me luck!!

Until next time...

Closing one chapter, starting a new one

Today was my last day at Experts Exchange. Talk about a weird feeling all day. I mean let's be honest, since I said I was leaving, it was just weird around the office, but I tried to ignore that feeling. I think it's because people wonder why I'm leaving such a sweet place to work. Well they are right, Experts Exchange is a FANTASTIC place to work, but when a dream opportunity comes up, you should go for it. So I did.

Experts Exchange taught me a lot about the working world and how you won't ever like everyone you work with and how sometimes you have to do things in your job that you hate and wear you down. That's not to say that EE was always like that at all. I LOVED working there and loved 99.99% of my time there. Though when you're leaving, it's easy to focus on the things that annoyed you when you're looking forward to your new job.

I made some good friends I'll never forget at EE.

Dani - Thank you so much for being such an awesome co-worker and always keeping my days at work interesting and fun. Never a dull moment with you! You better come to San Diego often!! I don't care if you don't drive, it's called the train! I'll get you in contact with the CIO at PLNU! It'll be a business trip! :)

Chris - Thanks for always letting me bounce ideas off of you and teaching me that it's more than just a great idea to build a cool feature. I blame you and your adorable kids for my wanting kids... all your fault!

Kari - Never cease to stop laughing with you around. LOVE it!! Thanks!! "My advice about your credit, don't do what I did!"

Kristyn - You better still IM/email me your hilarious stories! Remember... remove the battery :)

Mary - I'm bummed we didn't start working on projects together earlier, but the times in Union with the tangents we got on sometimes are funny memories! Don't be afraid to look weird while sitting on the floor. It's more productive that way! :)

Katie - "Just wait until Vegas and you'll be surprised" hahaha I look forward to it!!

Jenn - Thanks for being my secret holder and getting me into spin class! I'm going to pick it back up when I go to San Diego. :)

Danae - Bummed you didn't get back before I left, but I loved sitting next to you for the day I got to! :)

Brenae - Goodluck with your engagement!! When you're in SD visiting family, gimme a call!!

Steph - Sorry I bailed on being your date to Oktoberfest (my replacement date won't be nearly as cool)... but same to you about letting me know when you're in SD!!

Dane - Grey is not a colour, sowwy

Brad - Let's be honest, you're my fave intern! Need a surfing trip? Hit me up!!

Matt - Wanna pick a fight!?!? Aw you softie! Thanks for the credit company information! Invaluable!

Alex - My first EE friend you'll always remain

Courtney - it was a short lived neighbour situation, but loved the random cheer claps you'd do.

Curly - You're still dead to me. Repeat after me... "Broncos are 4 and 0" Thanks!

Jan, Anthony, Molson, Jeff and Colin - Thanks for humoring me when I'm asking questions and being patient. You guys really taught me a lot! Especially about cookies!

Jay - we'll have to compare notes on Twilight when it comes out in November!

Netminder, ModernMatt, WhackAMod - The three Experts I talked to the most. Thanks for helping me see the other side of the site and personalizing such an awesome site!

Ace and Gary and Mary - best member development team ever! Good luck with all the engineers at your will!

Marketing Team - Thanks to you all for teaching me what I know about a complex site and the project process. It was so much fun and I can't wait to come back and visit and see what has been done to Experts Exchange.com Also, if you want to visit, let me know! My house is really cool and I would love to see you! :)

Most importantly, Thank you Randy Redberg. Your generosity and kindness has really made Experts Exchange one of the best places I've ever worked. I can't thank you enough for everything you've done for all the employees at Experts Exchange.

As for me, I'm off to Point Loma Nazarene University to work in the admissions department and couldn't be more excited. I've had an idea that this would be something I wanted to do for a career since my admissions counselor came to my high school my senior year. Now look at me... I DID IT!!

Stay tuned for an update on my life throughout my new adventure! If you want to email me, my personal account is Noelle[at]JimSeybert[dot]com

I'm full of Glee

If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook you know that I'm pretty much obsessed with Glee on Fox.

The dry humor intertwined with AMAZING musical talent... PHENOMENAL!

If you haven't had a chance to watch what everyone is talking about, check out Hulu.com and watch a couple episodes.

My advice: watch them from the beginning. It will make more sense if you do it that way.

Let me know what you think!

Fall means plaid...

I love how a lot more fashion companies are coming out with more and more plaid. And not just John Deer riding plaid, fashionable (in my opinion) plaid.

Forever 21 is a perfect example. Their Heritage 1981 collection has super cute Outerwear that includes, yup, PLAID!

I found this jacket (seen right) and I'm not-so-secretly in love with it right now.

I shall be adding it to my list of "will get when budget allows" list.

Until next time...

New layout in honor of my new home!

Hey readers! I have decided that I will update my blog layout to accompany my new move to San Diego!

The header imagine is thanks to Jon Sullivan. For those who don't know, it's the Coronado Bridge at night.

All my previous posts will remain the pink and purple motif since it's a LOT of work to switch them all to the new colours, but all my new ones will be updated obvi!

Let me know what you think? Yay? Nay?

Until next time...

So close I can feel it!

San Diego is so close I can feel it! I just want to be there yesterday!

Recently I've been wondering, "self, why are you so excited to go back to San Diego?" I mean, don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed... correction LOVED going to school down there, that's really all I did. Went to school. Oh and work way too much sometimes. So this time around I vow to do it differently. I want to make San Diego my city and my home. I want to go to the quirky places that tourists don't go to and I never want to stop playing tourist in my home city. I want to know more about San Diego and just explore.

This is where I reach out to my readers. I know you're out there, I have a visit counter :) Let me know what your favourite part of San Diego and give me some suggestions of what you "have" to do in America's Finest City.

Possible suggestions for me:
Favourite coffee shop
Favourite "ethnic" cuisine place
Favourite dessert place
Favourite place to get BBQ
Favourite place... you get the picture :)

Countdown to moving: 5 days
Countdown to Loma: 7 days

Here's insight into my first few weeks

A big part of the job for admissions counselors is traveling around to high schools, college fairs and churches in the Southwest Nazarene district raising awareness about . Well, I'm starting at Point Loma in the middle of Fall travel. Don't get me wrong, I'm stoked but it's a little scary to think about it without even knowing the whole job yet.

I talked with my supervisor today and she gave me some insight into the first few weeks of my job. Are you ready for this??

Noelle's schedule for the first few weeks:

October 12-13 -- Training and observing in the office
October 13 (night) -- Local college fair (yes already)
October 14 -- Off to Orange County for high school visits, church visit and a college fair (leave early, get back late)
October 15 - 16 -- More training in the office
October 17-18 -- Travel TBD
October 19-22 -- Central Coast
October 26-30 -- Orange County
