Thoughts from the front desk...
This morning in an attempt to further avoid doing any real work at my job, I offered to cover the front desk since some of our students have called in sick. I've realized that people some of the most awkward things when they don't know what to say to a receptionist. When in all honesty, they could walk by and not say anything and I wouldn't think twice about it.
Woman walking by: "wow it's raining out! What kind of rain is that?"
Me: "Wow you know what I don't know what kind of rain that is" (thoroughly confused and shocked that there are different types of rain espesh since it isn't even really raining...)
Woman: "It's like that weird fog rain that is just there"
Me: "hm yeah I guess you're right"
Female student: "so my ID card is cracked"
Me: "oh no what happened?" (wondering why she's telling me this)
Student: "It cracked"
Me: "sorry to hear that... are you wanting to get it fixed?"
Student: "well yes, that would be best"
Me: "oh you didn't say that, sorry about not understanding. You'll go into that office right there"
Awkward man: "Oh wow! That looks tasty!"
Me: "Oh yeah it is! So tasty and healthy too." (thinking he's referring to my bowl of yogurt with raspberries and blackberries)
Man: "Yeah I keep trying to tell my wife that coffee is healthy for me since I drink so much"
Me: "oh yeahhhhh good luck with that!"
I'm sure I'll have more but I just wanted to give you a glimpse into my time up here at the front.
Until next time...
So here are some conversations/comments from the front desk....

Tweeked my Prezi
With my MBA wrapping up in May and uncertainty about the scope of my job post graduation, I've been thinking a lot about what direction I want to head for my career. Trying to drill down what is it I want to do and what will make me happy while still being able to make payments on my car and the inevitable school loans. My current job's salary just won't allow that with much (if at all) wiggle room and so naturally I'm looking around to see how to line myself up for the perfect position when all is said and done.
Disclaimer: While I do like my job and would like to stay "ministry" points don't pay the bills and so I need to do my due diligence and investigate other opportunities.
In order to "stand out" and get hiring manager's attention which a lot of the postings I've looked at have said... I decided to make a Prezi resume. Let me know your thoughts. Honestly!
Until next time...
