Why? What happened?
Well... turns out I had an ovarian cyst that ruptured yesterday morning.
Whoa, WHAT!?
Well... about a week ago I started having this dull pain that wouldn't go away. If you know me, it doesn't surprise you that I was like "oh I'll go to the doctor next week if it doesn't get better..." Well it didn't get better. It got much worse.
Yesterday at work in the staff meeting I was noticing that not even moving made my side hurt really bad and then a little later all of a sudden I was bent over in pain, hands on knees pain. I, again, ignored it and went to lunch with a friend of mine and since my mind was busy in conversation, the pain was put to the back of my mind, still present, but not the only thing I was thinking about. However, when I got back to my office my mouth started to water and I was getting dizzy...
Off to the walk in clinic I went.
After some tests done there, they said "GET TO THE ER NOW!" awesome....
Off to the Coronado ER (shorter lines) I went...
While I was there, I was rushed to the back to a bed because lower right abdominal pain usually means something with your appendix. After the initial exam my gallbladder came into question or my kidneys. So I had an IV put in, blood taken for labs and told to sit tight. After the ultrasound, they concluded it wasn't my gallbladder, but weren't sure if it could be my appendix or not yet.
Off to the CT scan I went...
After the CT scan they ruled out my appendix and confirmed it was an ovarian cyst that most likely ruptured that morning. That would explain the surge in pain in the morning and the random fluid floating around my tummy.
Now what?
Bed rest for two days with pain meds and anti-inflammatories and lots of liquids. Doc warned that today would be worse than yesterday in terms of pain and so far he's right. I woke up in the middle of the night with pain which was SO unfortunate. This morning I'm doing better, just waiting for the pain medication to kick in... I declined vicodin because it makes me sick so they gave me a less strong, but WAY less side effects pain medication. I'm glad for the less side effects, but not a fan of the less strength.
All in all, I'm glad it is only a cyst and not something worse and I'm doing much better!
I'll keep you all posted.
Until next time...
