To charge or not to charge...

As many of my readers know, I work for a tech firm as their advertising coordinator. If you have checked out my company before, you know you have to pay to get your solutions. Over 2.5 million solutions in the knowledge-base at your disposal for a small fee every month or once a year.

Anyways... Experts Exchange has received a lot of bad press from bloggers and others about having to pay for the service. However, The New York Times reported that many websites are starting to charge for their content and services. Check out the article here.

What do you think?
Should the internet start charging for their content?
Let me know!!

Until next time...

  1. I am happy to pay for value received. I hold sites that charge for their content to a higher standard than those who don't. If I pay for the service I want a customer service team that proficiently speaks my native tongue, I want them to provide online (chat) techs whenever I need them, and I want whatever it is they provide to be better (more valuable) than it would be if there were no charge. I've pretty much stopped downloading FREEWARE apps because there's seldom any support. I'd rather pay a bit and be able to use the application.

BUT - I am very unlikely to buy an application or use an online service if they don't give me the opportunity to try it out first. I seldom buy software in a store because you can't test drive it in the store.

  2. Using a resource that is at your disposal to try and make a profit hmmm? That sounds pretty American to me. Best of all, the resource will never run out unless you adhere to the tenets of South Park episode 1206 (Over Logging).
