22 and 2 days old

December 12th marked the day I turned 22. Unlike turning 20 or 21, I actually feel a bit older now that I am 22. I'm not sure if it's because I graduate in three days or what, but I definitely feel a bit different. Hard to explain. Another part of the difference might be I spent this birthday without any of my family members around. As I get older, I have this desire to be around my family more and more. To help fulfill the desire, I video skyped my parents while I was opening my birthday present. It was a MUCH wanted digital camera. Seemed a bit impersonal, but I'm thankful I could do that.

Speaking of graduating soon, I will complete my degree on Wednesday December 17th. I started in August of 2005, and now I'm finishing, three and a half years later. Still unreal to me. Everyday marks one less day at PLNU and one day closer to the "real world". Whatever the "real world" means these days.

This weekend my best friend Jenn and my boyfriend Ryan came down to San Diego and it was probably one of the best birthday weekends I've ever had. Despite having to study for finals while they watched movies or made potato skins, it was a great weekend. Friday night we went to an Irish Pub called The Field. Walking into The Field makes me feel like I'm back in Ireland. Then you eat their Guinness Beef Pot Pie... oh my gosh! It's heaven in my mouth. Saturday night the three of us went to Pacific Beach with my roommate Nikki and ate at PB Bar & Grill where their Irish Nachos and Chicken Quesadillas are SO AMAZING! Pretty much having my three favorite people around to help me celebrate my birthday and my graduation equals a great weekend.

On the job search front... my mom sent me a link to a reporter position for KCOY. While technically I should be excited for it because it is my major, I just wasn't. It's hard to explain, but I just know that I wouldn't be happy doing that. I have found my niche with event planning and public relations to the point where I don't think I would be happy doing small town news. I think if I were able to start with NBC 7/39, or some other bigger market, I would give more consideration to the idea of being a reporter. However, that's really not an option so I would rather wait for a job that truly will make me look forward to going to work each day.

Schedule for the week...
Monday - Marketing Final
Tuesday - World Civilizations 1 Final
Wednesday - Spanish 2 Final
Thursday - DISNEYLAND!!
Friday - Santa Barbara
Saturday - HOME!

A lot will be happening in the next few days...

Until next time!
