Day one as an advertising coordinator...

Today was Day One at Experts-Exchange!! One word to sum up my day.... YAY!!!

Quick timeline of my day:

8am - arrive!!

8-10:30am - Welcome to my new desk, get comfortable with Experts-Exchange's site, and also set up three different chat messengers and add them to Trillian. EE uses yahoo, AIM and MSN messenger to talk throughout the office. It's awesome! No need to check e-mail or try to find the person you need somewhere in the office.

10:15am - Mini tour of the office which included the coffee machine, the SNACK DRAWER, and a fridge full of water, jucies, energy drinks and much more! I was shocked and totally stoked!

10:30-11:15am - Marketing Meeting that happens every Monday morning. It was a brief introduction of the marketing team and the creative team. I met, in order of the circle they happened to sit in... Danae, Lillian, Mark (aka Ace), Katie, Gary, Mike, Stephen, Stephany, Mark (aka Barbir) Mary, and Jenna. My boss is Jonathan. Lots of people, but I think I have the names already, but we'll see if I can be as quick with the engineers and system admins... yikes!

11:15-12:30p - Getting more familiar with Experts-Exchange's site and personalize my computer, email and chat messengers. I also had a meeting with my boss, Jonathan. We talked about the immediate future with my position and what to expect.

12:30-1:15p - Lunch at Subway. Time to recharge!

1-5p - More configuring of my PC (yeahhh I have to use a PC), receiving my first set of free stuff and exploring the free drinks fridge.

Now onto my insight into my day... aka the more personal part!

So I show up a little bit before 8am and since I don't have a key, I have to ring the doorbell to be let in. The second I rang the doorbell, I swear my heart stopped for a few seconds. "What did I get myself into!?" ran through my head. This is a job that I've never done with people I didn't know... Very nerve racking!

So then the office manager (Kathryn) is out for the day so I don't really go through the new employee orientation. I get a post-it with my user name and password and I already have email. I have been there for a grand total of 15 minutes and I already have email. I dove in with both feet! It was great!

In my meeting with Jonathan, I found out a little bit more about what I'm going to be doing for Experts-Exchange. I'm slowly gaining understanding of my job and I really like that.

I learned I have a pretty gnarly non-disclosure agreement I'll be signing probably tomorrow. I understand why I would need to agree to it, but WOW! It's a little bit more gnarly than the Starbucks' agreement. No telling mommie or daddie or Ry or you, my blog readers. Nope Nope!

One of my favorite parts of the job so far... FREE JUICE!! And super cool people in the office. OH! And they wear jeans!! I was the only one in heals...

OH! And I also got a mini hand-slapping today! Since I haven't gone through the new employee orientation drill yet... I didn't know I wasn't allowed to take pictures inside the building. So near the end of the day, I snapped a quick picture of the front desk of the office... someone told me that was strictly against the rules... Too bad! I wanted to post a mini tour of my new digs... Oh well! You'll have to imagine my descriptions of my office!

Stay tuned for more Team EE updates!

Until next time...
