IT WENT GREAT!!
I'm really glad the first round (I'll get to that later) of interviews with Simply Clear Marketing went well and is all done.
My fears referenced in my previous blog (When nerves and civil service collide) about showing up and having to ask random people if they were Heather... didn't happen. She was there first and looked up the second the door opened. Dead give-away. *phew* So I didn't have to wander around the Starbucks trying to find her.
We first started talking about the things we had in common. We both went to the same high school (though ten years apart) and the differences of our experience and then just how different it is now. We talked about the same teachers we've had and then the difference in construction and just overall atmosphere of the high school. It was a great way to break the ice. Who knew I would enjoy talking about my high school in an interview...? It made me appreciate being home and seeing the small town atmosphere and experiencing it first hand. Though there are some major downers to be living in my home town again, it's great to have a similar connection with someone I hadn't met previously. It was just great.
Then we got into the more nitty gritty part of the interview. It was intense, but she kept complimenting my résumé and experience so that was reassuring. She did say they weren't technically hiring, however she also said that they don't want to let someone with my passion and experience just pass by. SOOO... I have a test run with them for an event coming up next weekend. I will be working set-up, client relations as well as working the event. After that's done, I will be completing a second interview with the business partner to see what she thinks about me. The event is a fitness and health show. So that should be interesting. Definitely a change of pace, but something I'm ready to embrace.
My instructions are to show up at 9am on Thursday, January 15th at The Madonna Inn in work clothes ready to get down and dirty setting up the trade-show. Then Friday the clients start showing up. Saturday and Sunday are the actual event and I don't really know what to expect with that. I'm to wear all black on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to show that I'm a part of the crew helping with the event. How awesome!? They want me to look like one of them and not just a hired hand to help!
All in all I think it went really smooth. I'm glad. It's a weight off my shoulders that's for sure. *big exhale*
And now onto the need for deep breathing about tomorrow. *deeeeep breath* That's right. Yours truly is up to be a juror for the SLO Court system. Lucky me right? *sigh* Well I'm supposed to be there at 11am tomorrow morning. So I'm going to pack a lunch, bring my book, my iPod and put on a smile. At least I'll have something interesting to blog about tomorrow. I wonder if I can bring my camera and take pictures of the wackos I'm sitting in a room with so I can post them here. *shrugs* We'll see. I also wonder if they'll let me take a facebook worthy picture in the jury box (if I get that far) or one with me hugging the judge? Maybe trying on the sweet judge dress? Do they even wear those in a small court? That'd be sweet! haha Doubtful, but maybe that'll be enough for them to excuse me as fast as possible because I'm annoying. :o) We'll see!
Well, until next time my friends!
